About the Doctors
Dr. Mithran S. Goonewardene
Dr. Mithran Goonewardene completed his Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours from the University of Western Australia and undertook his specialist training at the Forsyth Dental Center in Boston, USA, obtaining a Certificate in Orthodontics from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine/Forsyth Dental Center and a Master of Medical Science degree from the Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Goonewardene has combined part-time practice in Subiaco and Booragoon with a significant teaching role at the University of Western Australia for 20 years. He delivers numerous lectures and courses locally, nationally and internationally and plays an active role in education and delivery of orthodontic and surgical services in Sri Lanka, where he visits regularly.
Dr. Goonewardene is an active member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Sri Lankan Orthodontic Society and the Australian Dental Association. He is a full member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists. Dr. Goonewardene is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and a Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International.
Dr. Goonewardene is married with six children ranging from university to primary school age. He shares an interest in their sporting and music activities and enjoys traveling and outdoor activities with the family.
Dr Andrew Kalafatas
Andrew was born and raised in Perth and graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Dental Science degree in 1987 and was awarded the prize of top student in his year and also the best clinician in his year. He completed his Post Graduate studies achieving a Master of Dental Science degree in Orthodontics more than ten years ago and has worked in private practice since that time.
Andrew is a founding fellow of the Western Australian Dental Foundation and has had an appointment at the University of Western Australia as a clinical tutor since graduation. He is a specialist member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists and has been a member of the Executive committee on several occasions and is also a member of the Australian Dental Association. He regularly attends local, national and international orthodontic conferences to keep abreast of the latest techniques and procedures so that they can be implemented into our practice to assure the best possible care for our patients.
Away from orthodontics, Andrew is the proud father of three boys, including twins which keep both he and his wife extremely busy. He is an avid sports fan and keen member of the West Coast Eagles.
Andrew’s training, vast experience and pursuit for excellence allows him to gain the best results for his patients.
About Dr. Mike Razza
After completing his undergraduate studies at Sam Houston State University, Dr. Mike Razza earned his D.D.S. from Baylor College of Dentistry. He later went on to receive his Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry and has been in private practice for 16 years.
A frequent lecturer in his profession and to dental and postgraduate students, Dr. Razza is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Australian Society of Orthodontists and Delta Sigma Delta.
Dr. Razza and his wife, Jacqueline, have four daughters, Rachel, Ruth, Lauren and Victoria. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf.
About Dr. John Stamatis
Dr John Stamatis is a graduate of the University of Western Australia where he obtained his BDSc and MDSc degrees. He has 10 years of experience in general dentistry and 15 years in orthodontics.
Dr Stamatis often lectures to staff and dental assistants, as well as to students at the Dental School of the University of Western Australia.
Dr Stamatis keeps in touch with the latest advances in his field. He has spent several terms as the executive of the “Australian Society of Orthodontists” and is the immediate past president.
Dr Stamatis and his wife have three children, who keep him very active out of office hours. Dr Stamatis is an active member of the Hellenic Community of W.A. In his remaining free time he enjoys cooking, gardening and spending time with his dog Daisy.
